In 2007 , I went to S. Africa, Botswana & Zimbabwe with Senior Tours Canada.
We flew Air Arica from JFK, N.Y. The people we met on the tour, the guides, and the people of these three countries were wonderful.
We met a real tribal chief.
The variety of landscapes and the scenary was awesome, the animals intriging, the food delicious…mmm! Crocodile tail is some tasty……..the Mopane worm was rather blah. We went on safari, both morning and nighttime….exciting.
One night we were served a late dinner by candlelight out in the wilderness. Martha Stewart eat your heart out!
Lovely tablecloths and the chairs were draped in fabric. Delicious food, and wine if we wanted it.
While we enjoyed our meal, several men walked the perimeter with guns, just in case any animals decided to make a meal on one of us.
I had a wild ride on an ostrich…fun!
Took my first helicopter ride over Victoria Falls..magnifcent.
The disparity betwen rich and poor is heartbreaking. The poverty is overwhelming. But the spirit, exhibited by the African people in their effort it to overcome adversity is inspiring.
I would love to go back. I share a few of my pictures here for your enjoyment!
