Jamaica…Go you will love it!

Posted by White Point Vacation Club Team on June 30th, 2009

In mid April we travelled to a 5 star resort in Lucie, Jamaica on the Negril Coast. It was our first time back in fifteen years and this was a new resort, The Grand Palladium Lady Hamilton. It was a large complex with a main beach , adult beach, and snorkeling beach.  The complex included an exercise facility, a luxurious spa and numerous pools. Food was amazing, with three large all you can eat buffets and five a la carte restaurants and the service was excellent with very friendly people; nightly entertainment on the main stage, and at the bbq pits on the beach. I am trying to keep this short because it would take a book to point out all the wonderful features. Vibrant colours in flowers and wild life. Jamaica has alligators as well as colourful birds.

The sunsets were spectacular and very quick as is common when you are closer to the equator. For anyone with mobility issues (as I have) there were complimentary cart pick up to transport you wherever you wanted to go, available any time.

The pictures show this luxury all inclusive resort and for contrast, the nearby historic town of Lucie with its Spanish fort and fishing. I have included the lower level of the main lobby, windsurfing on the sunset beach, looking into Lucie from the point, a view of the complex showing the main beach and some of the apartments, a series of pool conduits at the spa, a sunset seen from the bluff above our unit and the main pool swim up bar with the built into the pool loungers.

Go! you will love it.

Adventures in Africa!

Posted by White Point Vacation Club Team on June 24th, 2009

In 2007 , I went to S. Africa, Botswana & Zimbabwe with Senior Tours Canada.

We flew Air Arica from JFK, N.Y. The people we met on the tour, the guides, and the people of these three countries were wonderful.

We met a real tribal chief.

The variety of landscapes and the scenary was awesome, the animals intriging, the food delicious…mmm! Crocodile tail is some tasty……..the Mopane worm was  rather blah. We went on safari, both morning and nighttime….exciting.

One night we were served a late dinner by candlelight out in the wilderness. Martha Stewart eat your heart out!

Lovely tablecloths and the chairs were draped in fabric. Delicious food, and wine if we wanted it.

While we enjoyed our meal, several men walked the perimeter with guns, just in case any animals decided to make a meal on one of us.

I had a wild ride on an ostrich…fun!
Took my first helicopter ride over Victoria Falls..magnifcent.

The disparity betwen rich and poor is heartbreaking. The poverty is overwhelming. But the spirit, exhibited by the African people in their effort it to overcome adversity is inspiring.

I would love to go back. I share a few of my pictures here for your enjoyment!

Winter Fun at White Point

Posted by White Point Vacation Club Team on June 17th, 2009
Last winter my Mom, Dad, our two dogs and I were going to White Point Beach. At the last minute my ‘best friend’ was able to join us. Off we drove excitedly. When we arrived the weather was great! After we unpacked in our room my friend and I shared, we made sure all of our stuffed animals and blanket tent was set up.
Then we went off in the Beach Bus which was Way Cool to the main lodge. We fed the bunnies, walked along the beach, played pool, and swam for hours. We took the Beach Bus back to our cottage. My Mom who is a great cook made us a delicious and healthy meals. The trip was too short, so we invited my friend to come with us again next time.
She jumped with joy!
We stayed in Cottage #301 - March 28 and 29, 2009

V-A-C-A-T-I-O-N Anytime, Anywhere!

Posted by White Point Vacation Club Team on June 9th, 2009

The following article was taken from http://my-vacations-trip.com/623131-V-A-C-A-T-I-O-N-Anytime-Anywhere.html, Enjoy!

Webster’s dictionary defines vacation as “a period of time for pleasure, rest, or relaxation”. Most vacationers, however, aren’t aware of this definition, as they often return from their trip feeling less relaxed than when they left! Luckily, more and more people are discovering that Webster’s definition of “vacation” is synonymous with timeshare ownership. Here’s why:

Timeshare owners enjoy the privacy of a home with the amenities of a world-class resort! Timeshare owners know that their timeshares provide better value than renting hotel rooms. Timeshare owners are less burdened than full-time vacation homeowners.

According to the American Resort Development Association’s (ARDA) recent study, most timeshare owners believe that their timeshares are better than hotels. In fact, when asked about their overall satisfaction with their timeshare property, 78% of the timeshare owners rated their property as “excellent”. When timeshare owners were asked if they were getting good value for their money, 72% of the owners rated their properties as “excellent”, compared to 58% of those who stayed in hotels.

Mike Hussey, ARDA’s Chief of Staff, confirms that this is due to new trends in vacation ownership over the past several years. “Timeshare owners are more satisfied with their overall vacation experience and feel that they get good value for their hard-earned money,” says Mr. Hussey. In fact, the numbers back him up. In 1980, only about 155,000 households owned a timeshare at 500 resorts worldwide. Today, there are over 5,000 timeshare resorts with 4.5 million vacation owners worldwide. It seems as though more people ARE learning to “vacation”!

Besides receiving better value, timeshare owners also appreciate the benefits that come with part-time vacation home ownership. On an average, vacation homes in the United States are used 17 nights per year! Unless the owner uses this property a lot, they are paying way too much for a vacation home that does not provide much utility. They’re paying full time for a part time vacation. Year round vacation homeowners spend more for maintenance costs (even when they are not there), and spend more of their valuable “vacation” time on upkeep.

Life’s too short not to enjoy great vacations. You work too hard to deserve anything less! Your free time is your own. When you do discover the definition of vacation, we hope that you’ll practice what you learn, and practice often… as practice makes perfect.

Spring Tutorial “packed” with Tips and Tastes!

Posted by White Point Vacation Club Team on June 9th, 2009

Kevin McEachern from RCI reviews RCI features and programs. With more than 60 Vacation Club Members in the house over the May 22 - 24 Weekend under sunny skies, we had a great Tutorial Weekend.

The morning interactive Vacation Club Basics session was well attended with a great deal of “destination surfing” going on!

Of course, the Vacation Club exclusive “Chef’s Magic” BBQ session was well subscribed as Chef Alan shared some of his tips and samples of his work from the deck of the Beach Club Grill - a terrific reward after the learning in the morning.

In the afternoon, Kevin from RCI provided a fantastic run down of RCI and how to get the most from your membership…plus many, many answers to Owners Questions. Donna Hatt from the Resort also provided some of the new features owners can enjoy this upcoming summer.

Of course, knowing that Sommelier Dan Tanner would be serving up a variety of wines in his “Off the Vine” Wine Tasting, the Tutorial day wrapped up just in time so everyone could get their seats for a tasting extravaganza.

All in all…it was another great day at White Point!
